the artist

Former Prime Minister, France and President of the Constitutional Council and president of the famous COP21 / Paris Agreement, today we discover Laurent Fabius the painter. Raised in a family of antique dealers and immersed in the art world from an early age, he chose another path: serving his country through politics.

Yet his interest in art never truly left him. He loves painting, visits museums, and questions what he sees, as evidenced by the two books he has devoted to the subject: Le cabinet des douze (2010) and Tableaux pluriels (2022).

Fifteen years ago, he stepped to the other side of the mirror, picked up his brushes, and began to create. Guided by his sensitivity and his encounters—particularly with artists such as Yan Pei-Ming and Pierre Soulages—he developed and refined his own artistic practice.

First working on small canvases, always in acrylic, he then moved on to larger and larger ones, sometimes monumental. Color and movement are at the heart of his creative process.
