Why, known until now mostly for my public responsibilities, have I decided to show some of my paintings at this moment?

This double and gentle mystery is, in fact, easily explained. Although my love for art goes back to my youth, my work as a painter is relatively recent—about fifteen years.

Choosing Shanghai for this first exhibition seemed, in response to a generous invitation, an excellent symbol: I have devoted much of my life to building bridges rather than walls.

And yet, in the poet’s enigmatic and beautiful words, “Je est un autre” (“I is another”). It is this “I” and this “other” that I now invite you to meet.
